Nursing Continuing Education Courses

The following is a list of Nursing CEU Courses offered by UHTC.  Check back regularly, as we are planning to expand our offerings over the next few months.

REFUNDS:   10% Fee is charged for cancellations up until 7 days before the class date.  At 7 days and less, there are no refunds.

1) Basic EKG Review:  6 hours (1 day),  6 CEU

This is a one day course that reviews basic EKG rhythms, and the related anatomy and physiology. Case Studies are a part of everything we teach.

Primary Objectives

  1. Will be able to recognize common EKG rhythms;
  2. Will understand how anatomy and physiology of the heart relates to EKG rhythms;
  3. Will learn and practice (hands-on) how to perform a 12-Lead EKG.

2) Advanced EKG Review:  12 hours (2 days), 12 CEU

This is a two day course that focuses on dysrhythmias.  The course includes relative anatomy and physiology, and pharmacology. The first day is primarily instructive in nature, with case studies as appropriate.  The second day is spent reviewing multiple case studies, and practice identifying dysrhythmias.

Primary Objectives:

  1. Will be able to recognize various dysrhythmias;
  2. Will understand the Anatomy and physiology behind the various dysrhythmias;
  3. Will know how to respond should a non-normal EKG be present;
  4. Will know what pharmacology is appropriate, and what is not.

3) Airway and Respiratory Emergencies:  6 hours (1 day), 6 CEUs

This is a one day course that reviews airway and respiratory emergencies, related anatomy and physiology, pharmacology. Communications and teamwork are integrated throughout the course.  Case Studies are a part of everything we teach.

Primary Objectives

  1. Will be able to assess respiratory status;
  2. Will review ABG interpretation;
  3. Will be able to identify respiratory distress;
  4. Will learn appropriate respiratory interventions, and practice skills;
  5. Will know what pharmacology is appropriate.
